The morning of September 20th we went to Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Jupiter Florida to participate in the International Coastal Clean-Up.
We were on the beach along with 300 other volunteers before 8 am. We decided to walk close by the water where seaweed piled up. Sifting through seaweed is not easy, but well worth it. We collected all types of garbage and our trash collection sheet was full of tally marks. Fishing line, bottle caps, cigarette butts and little plastic pieces topped our list. On our walk along the water’s edge we came across many, what seemed to be popped balloons, empty sea turtle shells. About 20 feet away from the water was a nest full of empty shells.

It was great to see so many people of all ages helping out. Within 4 hours of cleaning 225 lbs of trash was removed from the beach and we at Steinlin Consulting are very proud to be a part of that.

Helping our community and keeping our beaches clean is very important to us. This is the first of many beach cleanups that we will participate in. There are monthly cleanups and if weather permits, we will be there helping out.
